EGO garage charging and winter storage setup

Choose a charging spot that fits your garage, keep batteries within EGO's documented temperature limits, and use the manual-based checklists for first use and end-of-season storage.

Pick a charger location before the first storm

EGO's CH2800D and CH3200 pages describe active fan cooling. A shelf or bench near an outlet is one possible charging spot; leave room around the charger and keep it out of the snow blower's parking path. Follow the manual for instructions specific to your charger. For battery and charger pairing, see the EGO charger compatibility guide.

The CH2800D has two ports and can charge two EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries at once. The CH3200 is EGO's 320W charger. Compare them with the EGO battery sizes and charger chart. Check CH2800D charger. Check CH3200 charger.

Keep mounted packs out of the blower's way

A wall holder can keep batteries off a bench when that's easier for your garage. The StealthMounts four-pack is listed for EGO 56V batteries. Confirm the fit for your packs and follow the maker's directions. Put the holders away from the snow blower's route through the garage. Check StealthMounts four-pack.

Charge and store packs within the manual's limits

The EGO SNT2420/SNT2420-FC manual gives an optimal charging temperature of 41°F to 104°F (5°C to 40°C). It says unused 56V battery packs should be stored in an enclosed area where the temperature will not drop below -4°F (-20°C). These figures come from that manual. Check the manual for your own battery if its model differs.

The SNT2420 manual does not specify an off-season battery charge percentage. For longer storage, use the pack-specific instructions in the EGO battery storage guide and confirm them against the manual for your pack.

First-use checklist for a new snow blower

This sequence follows the EGO SNT2420/SNT2420-FC operator's manual. It is not a substitute for the manual for a different blower model.

  1. Check the blower, handle assembly, and discharge chute for missing or broken parts. The manual says not to attach batteries or operate the blower until broken or missing parts have been replaced.
  2. Install the handle assembly. Choose a height, fit the bolt-and-knob sets through the matching holes, and tighten them securely.
  3. Install the complete discharge chute. Align the support poles, slide the chute down until it is fully seated on the base, and secure it with the knob and bolt. The manual says not to operate the blower without the complete chute in place.
  4. Charge the battery pack or packs before first use.
  5. Inspect the area and remove doormats, sleds, boards, wires, and other objects. Wear winter clothing, footwear suited to slippery ground, and safety glasses.
  6. Keep people and pets at least 100 feet (30 m) away while the blower is in use.
  7. For the SNT2420/SNT2420-FC, the manual allows one or two packs. Align each pack's grooves with the compartment ribs and push until it clicks and the release button springs up. Check that each pack is secure, then close the battery cover.
  8. Before starting, make sure the handle is set securely and the chute is mounted properly. Press the safety button first, then activate the function you want to use. The manual says the reverse order will not activate it.

For model and kit comparisons, use the EGO snow blower guide. Check the manual that came with your machine before applying these SNT2420 steps to another model.

End-of-season storage checklist

  1. At the last clearing, run the blower for a few minutes after finishing. The manual says this helps prevent the auger assembly from freezing up.
  2. Remove the battery packs and store them in a secure place out of children's reach.
  3. Wipe melted snow from around the machine and battery compartment. Clean the blower with a dry cloth, and remove moisture, dirt, and debris around the battery compartment.
  4. Check nuts, bolts, knobs, and screws for tightness. Inspect moving parts for damage, breakage, and wear. Have damaged or missing parts repaired or replaced.
  5. Store the blower in a clean, dry, enclosed place out of children's reach. Do not store it near fertilizer, rock salt, or other corrosive materials.
  6. Store the packs in an enclosed place that stays at or above -4°F (-20°C). For the storage charge level and longer-term battery care, follow the pack's own manual and the EGO battery storage guide.

For upkeep between storms, see the EGO snow blower accessories and winter maintenance guide.
