EGO snow blower accessories and winter maintenance

Check fit by model before ordering. This guide also covers the SNT2420 after-storm routine, its battery recommendation, and seasonal storage.

Before the first storm, I’d check the model number on the blower and keep its listed shear pins where I can find them. The part numbers are close enough to confuse: the SNT2420 operator's manual lists ASP2400 and ASP2420D, while EGO’s ASP2400D page names other models. The chute-cleaning tool comes attached to the SNT2420.

For the SNT2420, follow its manual’s part numbers: ASP2400 or ASP2420D, ASS2420, AKS2420D, ADC2400, and CB004. Similar names do not make the parts interchangeable. The manual’s parts diagram also shows the chute-cleaning tool on the machine.

After a storm

When you finish, the SNT2420 manual says to let the auger run for a few minutes to help keep moving parts from freezing. Move the blower in self-propel mode until the wheels rotate freely, then turn the chute left and right and move the deflector up and down. Clear snow and ice from the base of the chute.

If the chute clogs, shut the blower off, remove the battery packs, wait 10 seconds for the auger to stop, and use the attached clean-out tool. Never use your hand. Remove the battery packs before cleaning or doing maintenance.

The manual also calls for periodic checks of the whole machine for loose, missing, or damaged parts. It does not set a storm-count or hour-based interval.

Before storing it for spring

Remove the battery packs and store them somewhere secure and out of reach of children. Wipe moisture, dirt, or debris from around the battery compartment, then wipe the blower with a clean, dry cloth. Check the nuts, bolts, knobs, and screws for tightness and inspect moving parts for damage, breakage, and wear. Have damaged or missing parts repaired or replaced.

Store the blower in a clean, dry, enclosed place out of reach of children. The manual says not to store it near corrosive materials such as fertilizer or rock salt.

Plan on two packs for the SNT2420

The SNT2420 manual recommends two 5.0Ah-or-greater battery packs for best performance and maximum runtime. EGO’s 24-inch two-stage page ties its claim of up to an 18-car driveway in 8 inches of snow to two included 7.5Ah packs. That driveway figure applies to that stated setup.

The 7.5Ah Check BA4200T 7.5Ah battery matches the capacity in EGO’s driveway claim. The 5.0Ah Check BA2800T 5.0Ah battery meets the manual’s recommended lower capacity, but EGO does not publish that same driveway figure for two 5.0Ah packs. Check SNT2420 tool only.
